Habitat I Forum
A separate conference organized by and for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and ordinary citizens took place from May 27 to June 6, 1976 in parallel to the UN Conference. The sixteen-day Habitat Forum drew over 6000 participants from over 85 countries to Jericho Beach, Vancouver, including notable figures such as the humanitarian Mother Teresa, architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller and architect Hassan Fathy. The Forum was free and open to the public.
